Elena was born in South Korea and immigrated to Calgary, Alberta when she was nine. Growing up in an immigrant family, she has first-hand experience with the challenges that immigrant women and families face. 

​

Elena is a CPA, CA and has over 15 years of experience working in the public accounting, regulatory, public sector, small business, oil and gas, and not-for-profit industries. She is an area leader for the CPA Canada Financial Literacy Program in Calgary, a sessional instructor at the Haskayne School of Business, and served as the Treasurer and Chair of the Finance Committee for the Calgary Immigrant Women’s Association and a peer advisor for the Alberta Women Entrepreneurs.
